Right heart catheterization (RHC) is the gold standard for diagnosing and classifying pulmonary hypertension. It is recognized to be a technically demanding procedure requiring accurate evaluation of results. If performed by skilled operators, RHC provides reliable and valuable measurements with low complication rates.
Although increasing data from the literature have become available over time, a comprehensive review of technical details and pitfalls is rare. This interactive course aims to provide an overview of indications and evidence-based practical issues upon RHC to guide physicians, nurses, and technicians on how to perform this procedure.
